Seligman Justice Court
General Information About The Court
Seligman Justice Court handles civil cases involving less than $10,000, civil and criminal traffic violations, and misdemeanors. If you receive a ticket from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office or Arizona Department of Public Safety inside the Court’s precinct, your case will be handled here.
The Seligman Justice Court’s precinct includes a large section of the I-40 in Northern Arizona, including Seligman and Ash Fork. We see a lot of speeding violations, both civil and criminal speeding, as well as reckless driving charges in this court.
Construction Zone Tickets
As of September 2019, there is a “permanent construction zone” on the I-40 near mile post 121. This is also the exit to Seligman. In this area, the speed limit drops from 75 to 55 and there is a lane restriction where travel is reduced rom two lanes to one lane each direction. AZDPS (highway patrol) sits in the median and waits for drivers unfamiliar with the area to miss seeing the speed limit reduction and then issues speeding tickets. If the speed is high enough, we often see a reckless driving charge added to the speeding charge.
Judge Dominick Sarno
Judge Sarno was elected in 2014. It is our understanding that Judge Sarno was at one point an EMT. Yavapai County, where Seligman is located, sees a high number of fatal car accidents. Speed is a factor in most of these accidents. As an EMT, Judge Sarno no doubt has first hand experience with tragic auto accidents. As an elected official, Judge Sarno is likely concerned about maintaining safe driving conditions in his precinct. It has been our experience that Judge Sarno’s court operates smoothly. He is always professional, calm, and patient.
How To Get Case Information
Seligman Justice Court does not maintain its own online public access to cases. If you have a case there, you can look it up on the Arizona Supreme Court public access page. You can however pay fines online.
