Seligman Justice Court

Seligman Justice Court

Seligman Justice Court handles civil cases involving less than $10,000, civil and criminal traffic violations, and misdemeanors. If you receive a ticket from the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office or Arizona Department of Public Safety inside the Court's precinct, your case will be handled here.

The Seligman Justice Court's precinct includes a large section of the I-40 in Northern Arizona, including Seligman and Ash Fork. We see a lot of speeding violations, both civil and criminal speeding, as well as reckless driving charges in this court.

As of September 2019, there is a "permanent construction zone" on the I-40 near mile post 121. This is also the exit to Seligman. In this area, the speed limit drops from 75 to 55 and there is a lane restriction where travel is reduced rom two lanes to one lane each direction. AZDPS (highway patrol) sits in the median and waits for drivers unfamiliar with the area to miss seeing the speed limit reduction and then issues speeding tickets. If the speed is high enough, we often see a reckless driving charge added to the speeding charge.
